Well Woman Care
Tammy provides complete gynecological care for her patients, including annual physicals, breast exams, fasting screening laboratory testing, urinary tract infection evaluations, sexually transmitted infection testing, birth control management, and can provide referrals when needed. As a women’s health specialist, she does not provide urgent care nor can she be designated as your primary care but she is happy to provide you with a comfortable environment for your yearly appointments. Special note: Women should have a pap smear every three years starting at age 21. Sexually transmitted infection screenings are recommended yearly by the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) starting at the onset of sexual activity until age 25. At age 30, all women should have a pap smear and high risk HPV testing every three years. If you don’t know your HPV status, talk to your health care provider.
Peri-Menopause & Menopause
Contrary to popular belief, women can begin experiencing hormonal symptoms in their 30’s as progesterone levels began to decline. However, your healthcare provider may only offer you the option of hormonal birth control, anti-depressants or sleeping pills to cope with symptoms. Women often become frustrated, feel hopeless and unheard.
Menopause is defined as not having a period for one year and average age it occurs for most American women is around age 51. However symptoms of hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, fatigue, vaginal dryness, anxiousness, irritability, weight gain, loss of libido, menstrual changes and just not feeling like themselves can occur 10-15years before the cessation of the menstrual cycle.
Embrace Wellness can provide bio-identical hormone therapies and supplements to treat these symptoms as well recommend nutritional and lifestyle changes.
Pelvic Floor Restoration-Urinary Incontinence
Your pelvic floor serves several functions including control of your bladder and your ability to become aroused, enjoy sex, and have an orgasm. Your pelvic walls contain collagen, which breaks down over time as a natural result of aging and childbearing. Restoring that collagen is key to restoring the overall health of your pelvic floor and reducing symptoms of urinary incontinence, menopause and sexual dysfunction.
Tammy provides a complete pelvic floor restoration program for her patients that stimulate collagen production in the vaginal tissue to improve tone and decrease urinary leakage with the added benefit of improved sexual response—stronger, easier and more frequent orgasms. Tammy coined the phrase “Less Leaks, More Peaks” to describe her approach to women’s intimate health.
Hypothyroid & Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis
Embrace Wellness provides treatment options for thyroid management including medication management and nutritional recommendations. Tammy prescribes traditional medications such as Levothyroxine, Levoxyl, Synthroid, Tiorsint, Cytomel and Liothyronine as well Armour Thyroid, NP Thyroid, Nature Throid, and compounded T4 and T3.
Anti-Aging / Age Management
Anti-aging medicine or age management medicine is not about stopping the clock — It is about winding that clock back up again.
Age-related diseases are often the result of hormone deficiencies and our environment, which includes our nutrition, exercise, sleeping habits, and interpersonal relationships. When these four cornerstones and our hormones are out of balance, the ability of the body to age gracefully is significantly challenged.
PCOS-Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
Hair loss on the scalp but hair growth on areas you rather not have it. Weight gain. Irregular or absent menstrual cycles. Recurrent ovarian cysts or periodic pelvic pain. Cystic acne on the jawline, neck, chest and back. These are just a few of the symptoms of PCOS.
Whether you are seeking a diagnosis, wanting treatment for symptoms, or seeking pregnancy, Embrace Wellness can help.
Decreased interest, loss of orgasm, loss of orgasm intensity, painful intercourse, decreased arousal are just a few of the issues patients can experience. Tammy can help identify if there is a medical, hormonal or environmental cause of some of the issues contributing to sexual dysfunction.
Andropause is male equivalent to menopause. Men can also experience declines in their hormonal levels that can lead to depression, anxiety, fatigue, muscle mass loss, decreased libido, weight gain, insomnia, loss of interest, and erectile issues. Most men have heard of “Low T,” but when their primary care provider has tested their testosterone levels they are told that their levels are normal. The sad truth is that the reference ranges are based on men from age 17 to 70 resulting in most men being told they are in the normal reference range. What this means is that a 50 year old man who’s testosterone levels are in the low normal are actually closer to the levels of a 70 year old man.
Tammy has been treating male patients for ten years specializing in optimizing hormonal levels.
